iPod Touch 6G Release Date Rumors: When Is New iPod Touch Available?
Let's cut to the chase? Will we be getting the iPod Touch 6G anytime soon? There's no clear answer to that, but speculation would point towards a short answer of "no" or at least "not right now".
Despite consistent releases for all its other top product lines, the last iPod Touch we've seen from Apple was the iPod Touch 5 and that was released 2 years ago. The iPod Touch 5 is pretty outdated, age and specs-wise, but Apple appears to be in no rush to invest the time and energy needed to upgrade the device.
Despite the age, however, iPod lovers would argue that the iPod Touch 5G is still a solid performer and can even match up to some of the current lower-end smartphones and tablets.
While there are some rumors claiming that the iPod Touch 6G will be one of the devices revealed by Apple in the coming weeks, the company might be more concerned in focusing to other more important devices in its armory like the iPhone and iPad line. Add the much-anticipated iWatch as well, and the iPod is way back in the pecking order.
There's a chance that iWatch would be, in fact, the replacement of the entire iPod Touch line of products, but that would be a bit of a disappointment to many who have found the iPod Touch devices a good alternative to lugging around an iPhone with its nearly identical screen sizes and interface, and which also comes at a much higher price.
The company has made no official statement as to whether there will be a 6<sup>th generation iPod Touch or not, so we really can't tell if we'll be seeing it any time soon.
Apple has made a habit of releasing variants of iPod Touch every fall for years but have skipped the previous years. Some claim that there is a distinct possibility that Apple will be discontinuing the iPod Touch line or re-brand the product - again, the iWatch comes to mind.
