iPhone 8 specs rumors, features, release date: Sharp President confirms OLED panels for upcoming smartphone

Tai Jeng-Wu, who recently became the new Sharp President, said that Apple's next-generation smartphone, possibly the iPhone 8, will have the latest OLED panels. He revealed the news when he delivered a speech in Tatung University.
Tai told the audience that Apple has to prove once again that they are the leader of innovation by considering crisis as an opportunity. The tech giant has to continue evolving.
Tai explained that they are not sure if the iPhones' OLED panels will become a big hit in the market, nevertheless Apple continues to evolve and now it is moving away from low-temperature poly-silicon (LTPS) OLED panels. Although he was not particular as to which generation of iPhones will adopt the latest OLED panels, he confirmed that they are constructing an OLED production facility in Japan to provide what the customers demand.
Nikkei Asian Review reported that Apple has planned three iPhone prototypes for its 10th anniversary in 2017. Although the plan is temporary, reports said that one of the iPhone models will feature a curved OLED display with a 5.5-inch handset, while the other two will have the usual LTPS panels. Moreover, all three products will reportedly depart from the usual metal body casing and will feature a glass cover and back casing. In previous reports, there were already rumors about Samsung Electronics to exclusively supply OLED panels for the 2017 iPhones.
Reports claimed that Apple is currently looking for new ways to power iPhones and iPads away from their charging mats. Reports suggested that the new iPhone 8 will be launched in September next year and it is believed to be the first Apple smartphone to adopt wireless charging.
