Apple is rumored to be planning a major redesign for the iPhone in 2017, which will mark the 10th anniversary of the tech giant's popular smartphone.

To celebrate the momentous occasion, Apple is reportedly planning on launching the iPhone 8 in lieu of the iPhone 7s. While the iPhone 7 has just landed in stores and there's still more than a year to go before the company drops another iPhone, rumors are already popping up about what the next offer from Apple will look like.

PC Advisor UK suggests that 2017 is too important of a year in terms of Apple history that releasing an iPhone 7s with only minor internal upgrades just won't do. Instead, the company could unveil the iPhone 8 or even an iPhone that will simply be called "The iPhone" or the iPhone Pro.

As for what the possible iPhone 8/The iPhone/iPhone Pro will look like, MacRumors suggests an edge-to-edge OLED screen with a built-in front-facing camera and an integrated touch ID fingerprint sensor.

The outlet suggests that the iPhone 8 will undergo a radical redesign that will leave it without its top and bottom bezels. The camera and touch ID that were found on the bezels will instead be built into the display itself. There will reportedly be no more home button in future versions of the iPhone.

MacRumors points out that for the longest time, Apple Chief Design Officer Jony Ive has been antsy to develop an iPhone that resembles a sheet of glass and that 2017 may be the year that he actually comes up with just that.

Another new feature said to be introduced in the iPhone 8 is wireless charging. PC Advisor UK notes that this will not be the typical wireless charging available in other smartphones nowadays. Instead of relying on a charging dock, it will be done via a signal that can travel as far as 15 feet and power as many as 12 devices at the same time.

Apple has not released any official announcements about its next iPhone.
