iPhone 7 release date, specs news: Next gen Apple smartphone to feature waterproof tech and wireless charging
The Apple iPhone 7 has been a favorite subject of numerous rumors and speculations all over the internet ever since the current iteration came out last year. New reports suggest that the next generation Apple flagship smartphone will come out in September. Although the Cupertino-based company has yet to confirm these reports, new leaked information reveals that the new iPhone 7 will have waterproof and wireless charging features.

Although the waterproofing technology on smartphones is no longer something new in the industry, as the current Samsung Galaxy S7 already has the feature, Apple has yet to apply this on their flagship handset. According to a report by Tech Times earlier this year, during a test the iPhone 6s Plus became unresponsive following a water damage after it was intentionally submerged in the water for a mere 15 minutes.
Consumers also find it disappointing that liquid damage is not part of Apple's one-year limited warranty.
"If liquid damages an iPhone or iPod (for example, coffee or a soft drink), the service for the liquid damage isn't covered by the Apple one-year limited warranty or an AppleCare Protection Plan (APP)," notes Apple.
Many fans believe that waterproof and wireless charging features on an iPhone device will certainly pose as a major threat to the success of the current Samsung flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.
Meanwhile, the new leaked image from PLAYfuldroid revealed that the upcoming iPhone 7 Plus does not have headphone jacks. Previous reports suggested that the tech giant will no longer include the basic 3.5 mm audio jack. There are speculations saying that Apple will include wireless AirPods, along with wireless charging capabilities as new features of the new smartphone.
Rumor has it that Apple may no longer release 16 GB iPhones as they will replace the base unit of the device with 32 GB models.
