Apple followers have been speculating about the release of the new iPhone design this year. It was in 2015 when the iPhone 6S was first released to the public. This time, it is now Apple's turn to unveil the brand new look of its smartphone flagship, although the tech giant has been very quiet regarding the developments of its new products. However, a report reveals that the upcoming iPhone 7 will scrap the usual 16 GB base model and have the higher 32 GB model as the base variant instead.

The Cupertino-based company always use the 16 GB memory option for its previous iPhone releases, recently being the iPhone 6S. The 32 GB variant is usually the superior model. As the 16 GB option is being rumored to be phased out for iPhone 7, it is not known whether the 32GB model will have a lower price that is similar to usual base model, or the price will remain as expensive.

According to the rumors, Apple is ditching the 16 GB iPhone model as it would not be enough to contain photos, videos and other similar files that feature the 4K setting. It is also rumored that the iPhone 7 will be boasting 4K support, and if the 4K videos alone will be captured by iPhone 7's dual camera, the 16 GB memory space will be easily filled up. It will be hassle for the iPhone users to delete files from their phone just to have more free space, Yibada reported.

Further supporting this report is the statement of tech analyst Kevin Wang from IHS Technology. Posted on his Weibo account, Wang's report revealed that Apple has already ordered the 32 GB iPhone 7 model to be the lowest base product, Forbes reported. This will be proven to be enough storage capacity for mainstream iPhone users. Forbes also noted that Apple could sell the 32 GB model at the price of the 16 GB variant.

Regarding the release date of iPhone 7, it is rumored that the new smartphone units will not be released this year and instead will be launched in 2017. This is for the celebration of iPhone's tenth anniversary. It can be remembered that the first iPhone was released back in 2007, where it was proven to be a huge game changer in the smartphone industry. Apple can also expect a surge of sales by choosing a very special date for the iPhone 7's launching date.
