Apple has remained silent amid the speculations that the next iteration of the iPhone will be released this year. The iPhone 7 is expected to boast several upgrades over its predecessor, the iPhone 6S. As early as now, several tech spectators believe that the iPhone 7 will be introducing something new to the public. One of the interesting rumors about the next iPhone 7 is the 32 GB base model, which is expected to replace the previous 16 GB model.

As reported by iDigital Times, the upcoming iPhone model is rumored to ditch the 16 GB iPhone variant. It will be replaced by the 32 GB option as the new entry-level iPhone. The online publication also cited The Wall Street Journal, saying that the minimum storage capacity of iPhone 7 will become double, with the 32 GB entry-level iPhone variant boasting twice of the capacity of the previous 16 GB iPhone model. The Wall Street Journal claims that their anonymous source is "some person familiar with Apple's iPhone plans."

Moreover, the iPhone 7 is also expected to feature a larger internal memory for its high-end variant with an impressive 256 GB, the Apple Insider reported. In comparison, the high-level iPhone 6S model only has a maximum storage size of 128 GB.

It is also rumored that Apple will be ditching the 16 GB iPhone base model as it would not be enough to contain photos, videos and other similar files that feature the 4K setting. To note, one of the rumored big features of iPhone 7 is the 4K support, and if the 4K videos alone will be captured by iPhone 7's dual camera, the 16 GB memory space will be easily filled up. It will be hassle for iPhone users to delete files from their phone, or to transfer files to external storage devices just to free up more space.

iDigital Times also reported that the iPhone 7 may not be that different from its predecessors, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S. Perhaps the major difference between the iPhone 7 and the previous iPhone iterations is the lightning port replacing the traditional 3.5 mm headphone jack. This way, the iPhone 7 can have its more classic and slimmer appearance.

The Cupertino-based tech giant always uses the 16 GB memory option for its previous iPhone releases, recently being the iPhone 6S. With the 32 GB model being the new entry-level iPhone, it is also rumored that the iPhone 7 will be sold at an equivalent price of the 16 GB variant, making it much cheaper compared to its predecessor.
