iPhone 6 vs Galaxy S5 Comparison, Specs Review: iPhone 6 Scores Well Overall

null

With the iPhone 6 on the market for weeks now, a flurry of reviews have popped up comparing it to other smartphones from major players. Comparisons measure speed, screen size, time taken to load native and downloaded apps and much more.

So does the iPhone 6 live up to its reputation and is it a game changer in the smartphone market?

Let's start with screen size, as users usually notice it first when they first handle smartphones. Apple has finally shed its inhibitions and upped the ante by giving the iPhone 6 a screen that compares favorably to Galaxy S5, but it's still not bigger than the Galaxy S5's screen.

In a screen comparison run by Phone Arena, the screen of the iPhone 6 scored way better than the Galaxy S5 screen in terms of color accuracy. The Galaxy S5 on the other hand beat the iPhone 6 in terms of brightness, visibility in daylight and in resolution.

As far as weight is concerned, the iPhone 6 clearly beats the Galaxy S5 and is also slimmer than it.

Moving over to the rear and front camera, the iPhone 6 has a rear 8 megapixel camera and a 1.2 megapixel camera in front. Both cameras are lower in megapixels than the Galaxy S5, which has a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front camera. However, the lens in the iPhone 6 certainly makes up for that, and in tests the iPhone at least compares, if not flat out beats the S5, for picture quality and brightness.

Phone Arena when reviewing the specs of the iPhone 6, made the observation that its display lagged behind comparable Android phones. However, after comparing the full specs of the iPhone 6 and the Galaxy S5, Phone Arena came to the conclusion that the iPhone 6 scored well overall.

In terms of speed, the iPhone 6 with it decent 1.4GHz dual-core Apple A8 processor and 1GB of RAM, was slightly slower than other phones running quad core processors when opening third party apps. It was however, much faster than other phones when opening native software, revealing the streamline nature of the iOS system with its more tightly controlled Apple Store and apps market place.
