iPad Pro 2 release date, specs news 2016: Launching likely this September; Mini version to replace iPad Mini 5?

Rumors are rife that Apple will be updating the iPad Pro brand this year. There are no confirmed reports yet from the Cupertino-based tech giant regarding the next iteration of the said iPad variant, but it is expected that the iPad Pro 2 will be released this September along with Apple's other big device offerings.

Expert Reviews UK reported that the iPad Pro 2 will be released along with the iPhone 7 smartphones next month. Specifically, the next big event of the company for this year is rumored to fall on September 7, and that is where the public will see the new look of the iPad Pro. To note, the last special announcement from Apple regarding the arrival of iPad Pro was in September 2015. Specifically, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro was first seen by the tech enthusiasts, while the smaller 9.7-inch variant of the Apple tablet was revealed in March this year.

The online publication expects that the iPad Pro 2 or iPad Pro 2016 may still have the same 12.9-inch size, although everything is still up in the air regarding the final specs and design of the device. Regardless, the public can expect better performance from the iPad Pro 2, specifically with the device's processor. The iPad Pro 2 is rumored to feature an A10X 10nm processor, different from the previous A9X chip of the older iPad models.

On the other hand, The Bitbag reported that the new iPad Pro to be released this year might not be an entirely different design. The iPad Pro 2016 may very well be the 10.5-inch version of the original device.

This would also support the rumor from iTech Post, stating that Apple may release a different variant called the iPad Pro Mini. The arrival of the iPad Pro Mini may also put an end to the iPad Mini brand, as Apple is likely to replace the supposed new iPad Mini 5 with the iPad Pro Mini. Although, it is still possible that Apple will release an all-new iPad Pro 2 while also having a separate mini version of the device called the iPad Pro 2 Mini.
