iPad Mini 5 release date, updates, rumors: Device to have A10X chipset; release set for March 2017?

After skipping Apple's October 2016 event, there are speculations that the iPad Mini 5 will have an early 2017 release.
It has been more than a year since the iPad Mini 4 was unveiled, leading tech-savvy fans to wonder what's next for Apple's famed line of tablets. Although the iPad Mini 4 had significant design changes and updated features, it is already 2016 and many new technologies for gadgets have already been introduced. What should users expect when the next iPad Mini comes out?
New state of the art features
According to MacWorld, it is believed that the iPad Mini 5 will sport the 3D Touch pressure-sensitive technology currently used in the iPhone 6 and 6s. Although the said technology has never been used in any iPad line, reports say that it's only a matter of time before Apple uses it on the iPad Mini. The upcoming device is also expected to be waterproof and dust-resistant.
Updated specs
Rumor has it that the iPad Mini 5 will sport an A10X chipset, which is one of the most powerful chipsets currently used by new tablets. Additionally, it will have 2 GB of RAM, and internal storage with 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB variants. To cater to the working community, Apple's iPad Mini 5 will reportedly have a Smart Connector that attaches to a keyboard panel.
Physical attributes, camera & price
With its thinner design, the iPad Mini 5 will have a smaller battery. Despite its lower capacity compared to the iPad Mini 4, the new iPad sports superior battery technology that could outmatch its predecessor's performance. The rear camera is rumored to be 8 MP, while its front snapper is said to have 1.2 MP. Depending on the variant, the iPad Mini 5 will reportedly be priced around $412 to $750.
The iPad mini 5 is expected to make its first appearance next year, possibly at the next Apple event on March 2017.
