iPad Mini 5 release date, specs news & update: Device coming out Spring 2017?

Until now, Apple hasn't set a definite release date for the iPad Mini 5, making consumers wonder if it will ever be launched.

Consumers' expectations dropped when Apple's big event came and went without news on the iPad Mini 5. Yes, the iPhone 7 and Apple Watch 2 were unveiled during the event, but the much-anticipated iPad Mini 5 was nowhere to be found. Moreover, reports say it won't be released this October as well.

Now, people are wondering when the latest iteration to the iPad Mini is making it's grand entrance.

Well, according to PC Advisor, Apple is set to release a new line of Mac computers by October. Included here is the brand new iMac desktop, as well as an update for the MacBook Pro and possibly the MacBook Air laptops. With that said, the iPad Mini might not get its anticipated update until Spring 2017.

While no confirmation has come from Apple's end, it is worth noting that in the past few years, the tech giant has released products each Spring. With that said, there's a strong possibility that either the iPad Mini 5 or the iPad Air 3 will be released by then.

As for the specifications and features of the iPad Mini 5, there are talks that it will be released with notable upgrades, which include a screen with a higher resolution, 3D touch, and the iOS 10's full implementation.

It is expected to do away with the 3.5mm earphone jack and will instead feature a USB Type-C port like the iPhone 7. Should this be the case, users will be forced to use either Bluetooth earphones or the new earbuds sold exclusively by Apple.

MacWorld notes that the 9.7-inch tablet might feature a Series 700 aluminum casing similar to the iPhone 6s, as well as better NFC technology, and the standard 8-megapixel rear and 1.2-megapixel front cameras. Apparently, it will also boast of a more powerful processor, 3 GB of RAM, 32 to 256 GB of internal storage, and a 5,124 mAh battery.

There are also speculations that it will be called iPad Mini Pro instead of iPad Mini 5 to distinguish it from its predecessors.
