iPad Mini 5 release date, specs, features, news & update: Next-gen tablet may come with Series 7000 aluminium, IP68 protection

As March 2017 is getting nearer by the day, few Apple devices that have not been launched alongside the controversy-riddled iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus alongside the equally audacious AirPod have lately been the subjects of heavy speculations among the most revered rumor mills on the Internet.
And now that the Cupertino-based firm has finally unveiled the hotly anticipated refreshed hardware and the Touch Bar-toting MacBook Pro, people have gone swarming on the upcoming series of iPads next year. The more premium iPad Pro 2 is clearly stealing the spotlight nowadays but there is another entry in the roster that is as worthy as the former.
iPad Mini 5 has always been a favorited next-generation entry among the now-thinning iPad lineup. Apart from its competitive features and specifications, the lineup is clearly more favored than the rest due to its smaller structure — and add some of its rumored features in it, the result can be quite spectacular.
TechAdvisor has revealed that Apple is rumored to be introducing the new Series 7000 aluminum for the new iPad Mini. Furthermore, the iPad Mini 5 is expected to come with the same 7.9-inch Retina display. The durability of the new chassis will come in handy with the speculated 5mm thickness of the upcoming tablet.
iPad Mini 5 is likewise slated to introduce in its lineup the 3D Touch feature, which made its debut on iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. Meanwhile, a water-resistant iteration with IP68 protection is also pegged for the next iPad Mini. In addition, an Apple Pencil might surprise its consumers as it is highly likely that the stylus will debut on the newest entry.
iPad Mini 5 may now be powered by Apple's proprietary A9 processor and will have 32GB as its standardized native storage. Optically, the tablet may still house the same set of cameras — an 8-megapixel (MP) rear camera and a 1.2MP front-facing snapper.
iPad Mini 5 is tipped to be unveiled on March 2017.
