iPad mini 5 release date and specs rumors: New iteration to arrive with better specs than the current model?

There are more than a couple devices from Apple that are rumored to come out this year including the iPhone 7 and the iPad mini 5.
The current iteration of the iPad mini series came out in Sept. 2015. Many fans are expecting the company to release a new model this year and they hope that it will be better than its popular predecessor, the iPad mini 4.
According to the reports, the upcoming iteration will carry the same 7.9-inch Retina display of the current model. However, it will have a much improve exterior design including a 7000-series aluminum chassis. If rumors prove to be true, the new iPad mini 5 will be more durable and robust compared to the current iPad mini device.
There are also speculations suggesting that the upcoming model will have a thinner and lighter design. Tech observers say that the iPad mini 5 will run on an A9 processor, which is a huge improvement from the A8 processor of the iPad mini 4. A lot of people are expecting Apple to include the 3D Touch feature on the new handheld device. The impressive feature is already available on Apple flagship smartphone, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
Many Apple fans are also hoping that the company will include the Live Photos feature on the device. This feature is starting to gain popularity amongst Apple users.
There is still no report with regard to its camera feature; however, tech experts suggest that Apple may stick with the 8 megapixels primary snapper, along with its 1.2 megapixels FaceTime shooter.
Meanwhile, Apple fanatics are hoping that the upcoming iPad mini 5 will be released with a pre-installed iOS 10 operating system. There are also speculations suggesting that it may have a waterproofing technology; however these reports have yet to be confirmed by Apple.
For now, fans should take these rumors and speculations with a grain of salt until Apple finally announces the arrival of the device.
