Many spectators at the recently concluded Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2016 of Apple were expecting that the latest iteration of iPad Air would be mentioned during the company's presentation. Unfortunately for those who are waiting for an iPad Air 3, the Cupertino-based tech giant made no mention of such device. However, there is still hope that the new Apple tablet will be released in the near future, although the anticipated unboxing of the new iPad Air units might be delayed into early 2017.

The Bitbag reported that Apple has been rumored to launch the follow-up device to iPad Air 2 since last year. Many people believed that the iPad Air 3 would finally make an appearance last October 2015. It turned out then that Apple would be launching the new iPad Pro instead of expanding its mid-range iPad Air series. After months of speculations, it was reported earlier this year that Apple might be ready to release iPad Air 3 by Fall 2016. Many are now expecting that September 2016 will be the big month for the next iPad Air to launch.

The absence of iPad Air 3 at WWDC 2016 could be an indication that the said device will not be unveiled anytime soon. As reported by MacWorld UK, instead of September 2016 release date of iPad Air 3, it could be released at a much later date. It is likely that the new iPad Air will be among the next batch of new tech innovations that Apple will be presenting on their next big event. However, that will happen sometime in March next year.

So far, the rumored specs of iPad Air 3 includes an A9, A9X, or A10X processing chip, matched by an expansive 3GB of RAM. The camera feature is also expected to get an upgrade with the main camera having a flash of its own and a noticeable increase of pixel density, thanks to the camera's improved resolution, Christian Daily reported. Along with the new iPad Air 3, Apple may also unbox another anticipated device, iPhone 7, on their March 2017 event.
