'Into the Woods' Release Date, Cast News: Disney's New Trailer Features Meryl Streep Singing
A number of fairytale characters – including Cinderella, Rapunzel, Jack (of beanstalk fame), and Little Red Riding Hood -- come together in Walt Disney's "Into the Woods," a movie based on a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical created by Stephen Sondheim. The movie is due for release on Dec. 25 this year.

The most recent trailer of the film saw the cast performing a number of songs, including "Stay With Me" performed by Meryl Streep.
An earlier teaser trailer of "Into the Woods" released last July surprisingly had no songs in it, which was pretty strange as the film is a musical.
However, this has been remedied in the most recent trailer which features Streep singing "Stay With Me." Known for her acting prowess rather than her singing, Streep delivers the right notes in the song. Vanity Fair says Streep does a good job in singing and acting at the same time, adding that this could be another standout performance from Streep who has already won several Oscars over the years.
In the film, Streep is the "Witch" who curses the baker (played by James Corden) and his wife (Emily Blunt), as a result of which they cannot have children.
The other actors in the film include Johnny Depp playing the Wolf, Anna Kendrick as Cinderella and Chris Pine as Prince Charming. Mackenzie Mauzy steps into the role of Rapunzel while Billy Magnussen plays the prince who rescues her.
In the film all the stories of the fairytale characters are interwoven and the film deals with the repercussions for each of them of making a wish to get something.
