"Interstellar," the latest offering from Christopher Nolan, is due to hit the big screens in the U.S. on Nov. 7.

The film has already been shown to select audiences comprised mainly of Oscar voters and film reviewers. Special screening of the movie has also been made for members of the Screen Actors Guild nominating committee.

The stars of the film have also been attending press conferences to promote the film. Last week, the movie saw its star-studded Los Angeles premiere.

The film has been receiving mixed reviews from critics. Some say it could be an Oscar Award contender, comparing it to the "2001: A Space Odyssey" classic.

"Interstellar" will inevitably be compared to last year's space-related hit film "Gravity," which took home eight Oscar awards. Nolan could also be nominated in the "Best Director" category. Although he has directed a number of blockbuster films such as "Inception" and the Batman series, Nolan has not received any major cinematic awards.

"Interstellar" boasts of fine performances from its cast comprising of Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain.

However, Variety notes that the film does not rely heavily on its acting talent. Instead, it is driven by the twists in its plot and grand scientific theories that allow the astronauts to use a wormhole to search for new worlds when food supplies on Earth start to run out.

Aside from its convoluted plot and long run time of 168 minutes, "Interstellar" also boasts of cutting-edge technology in its special effects. To help visualize a black hole and wormhole accurately, Nolan consulted with Kip Thorne, a professor of astrophysics.
