'Insurgent' Release Date: Divergent 2 Movie Teaser Trailer Video Draws Fire From Critics
A storm of anticipation is building up with the upcoming release of the trailer of "Insurgent," the second installment in the Divergent film franchise, which will hit the big screen on March 20, 2015.
The first teaser trailer released last month saw more computer-generated imageries or CGI than anything else. However, the upcoming trailer is said to focus more on the movie's plot and will feature its two main stars -- Shailene Woodley and Theo James.

The November trailer of the movie concentrated on Woodley, who plays Beatrice "Tris" Prior, and Ashley Judd, who plays Natalie Prior. Critics noted that the trailer was weak on plot and only showed Tris leaping from one building to another that was burning in an apparent attempt to rescue her mother Natalie. This was deemed strange by many as Natalie was seen dying in the first film "Divergent."
Commenting on Natalie's appearance, Time says that the whole sequence could be a dream or it could be a test that Tris is imagining. Other reviewers were quick to pan the teaser trailer, saying it featured a ton of "messy" CGI and nothing more.
The apparent lack of any plot in the trailer could be remedied when the next trailer is expected to be released on Friday, Dec. 12.
Counting down to the release of this second trailer, a short 10-second teaser was released in which the main stars of the film made an appearance. However, here Tris is again the center of attention while Theo James, who plays Tobias "Four" Eaton, is only seen once.
Also in the trailer is Peter (Miles Teller) who is seen pointing a gun at Tris. Meanwhile it seems that Jeanine Matthews (Kate Winslet) is running an experiment on Tris and is heard instructing someone to begin the experiment. The trailer then shows several tubes being inserted into Tris with Caleb (Ansel Elgort) also standing in the room.
"Insurgent" is due for release in both 3D and 2D next year. The first installment in the franchise was not released in 3D. Despite that it brought in nearly $300 million worldwide.
