'Insidious 3' Release Date, Plot Spoilers: Elise Rainier Returns To Battle The Supernatural

Based from the reaction of fans to its recently released trailer, the third instalment in the "Insidious" film franchise promises to scare the wits out of viewers when it hits the cinemas on May 29, 2015.

Titled "Insidious: Chapter 3," the third film will actually not be a sequel to the first two films but rather a prequel. In the film, viewers follow the activities of Elise Rainier (played by Lin Shaye), who is a psychic, as she delves into the realm of the dead, in order to help a girl who is being haunted by supernatural beings. The teenage girl Sue is played by Stefanie Scott while Dermot Mulroney stars as her father. Rainier gets support from her teammates Specs (Leigh Whannell) and Tucker (Angus Sampson).

The director of the first two films in the series, James Wan will not be returning to helm "Insidious: Chapter 3." The movie is directed instead by Leigh Whannell, who has long been working on horror films. He was the one who wrote the first three films in the Saw franchise and the two previous films in the "Insidious" franchise.

Screenrant assumes that given Whannell's long exposure to horror movies, he will not have any problems helming the next "Insidious" film. Joining Whannell is production designer Jennifer Spencer who worked on "Insidious: Chapter 2."

The trailer for "Insidious: Chapter 3" has generated good buzz for the movie. CinemaBlend notes that in the trailer, a jump scare is used efficiently to engage viewers. It starts off with a knocking on the door while Sue is texting her crush. Then suddenly a decaying hand touches her while she is sleeping.

The trailer packs a lot of punch, according to CinemaBlend.

However, what is disappointing is that the movie will not be released during this Halloween but only during summer next year.
