Indiana Pacers trade rumors 2016: Rudy Gay being lined up

Teams are apparently lining up to acquire the services of Rudy Gay of the Sacramento Kings.

One source initially claimed that Gay may be heading to the San Antonio Spurs to try and lead the bench when the starters are given their mandatory rest.

For Gay, that should be a welcome proposition as he is now going to be a title contender, and it will get him the closest he's ever been to finally winning his first ring.

Gay has always been one of the top players in all of the teams he has played with. Having played with three teams, Gay was almost always the first choice in the offensive end with the Memphis Grizzlies, the Toronto Raptors, and the Kings.

However, if he moves to the Spurs, he will definitely lose his starter status and has to contend with playing the backup role.

However, recent reports claim that an Eastern Conference team is looking for Gay's services, the Indiana Pacers.

Rumors are suggesting that the Pacers are also interested in Gay, and it seems like this arrangement would be a perfect fit for both the Pacers and the Kings.

If it does push through, then Gay will be another added scorer in the Pacers alongside Paul George.

Furthermore, Gay is also an excellent defender and offers more threats than their current second option, Monta Ellis.

Rumors suggest that Ellis and Gay may trade places, with the Kings needing Ellis for more potent scoring and with the Pacers expecting more dimension from Gay.

Furthermore, despite the fact that the Pacers are far from becoming real title contenders, adding Gay will surely help them have a chance to make it deep into the playoffs with a loaded line-up.

The 29-year-old still has two years on his contract and is set to earn around $13.3 million in the coming year. After that, he can earn as much as $14.2 million if he wanted to, but he also has a player option provided by the contract.
