When a movie does not perform as well as expected, the studio usually tries to pull out all the stops to make the next film a success. Well, there's no denying that "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" wasn't as well liked as the previous films, so the studio's probably hard at work to come up with improvements for "Indiana Jones 5," right? Unfortunately, that may not be true.

In an interview with Moviefone, producer Frank Marshall has been asked where they are right now in the development process and he has revealed that they are still in the early stages. "David Koepp is our screenwriter and we're all talking, but there's really nothing down on paper yet," he stated.

At least they have a lot of time to work on the script because "Indiana Jones 5" won't be coming out until 2019. Marshall also spoke with Fandango last month and he didn't reveal much either aside from the fact that it's still in the in the "thinking stages." He said he would not be involved in the development process until the creative team comes up with an idea for the plot.

During the interview with Moviefone, Marshall also talked about what gets him excited to be involved in another "Indiana Jones" project.

"Again, it's just the team. It's a wonderful team like we had on 'Bourne.' It's nice to have your friends that you've known. Look, I've known Harrison [Ford] and obviously Steven {Spielberg] and the whole group for 30 years now. So it's nice to have everybody back together as kind of a reunion."

Marshall also mentioned that Harrison Ford wouldn't have a problem playing Indiana Jones despite the physicality required for the role. He pointed out that Ford did well in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," so there's really no need to worry.

"Indiana Jones 5" is scheduled to hit the cinemas on July 19, 2019.
