An "Indiana Jones 5" movie has finally been confirmed although no announcement has been made yet on its cast and release date.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy told Vanity Fair magazine in its June issue that another Indy movie "will one day be made inside this company. When it will happen, I'm not quite sure. We haven't started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it."

Since the Disney purchase of Lucasfilm in 2012, there had been much speculation on when Indiana Jones would return for a fifth film. The statement from Kennedy was the first official confirmation that this is closer to becoming a reality.

In the Vanity Fair article, Kennedy talked about the 2012 deal between Disney and Lucasfilm, saying that one of the bigger prizes that Disney acquired from that deal was the Indiana Jones franchise.

Last year, Disney chairman Alan Horn told Variety, "We haven't done anything. We don't have a story. We need a story."

Movie industry insiders said the best person to find the script for "Indiana Jones 5" is no other than Kennedy, who served as Indiana Jones director Steven Spielberg's executive producer on all of his projects from 1982 to 2012. Once Kennedy has everything in place for the Star Wars series, she is expected to turn her attention to the next Indiana Jones movie.

There is no word yet whether Harrison Ford will be in the movie to either play Dr. Jones or some other role. He will next be seen in "Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens" reprising his role as Han Solo. Also not sure is whether Chris Pratt will be involved. There have been speculations that he would take on the iconic role in the next movie. Pratt will next be seen in "Jurassic World."

The last Indiana Jones movie was "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," starring Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett and Shia Labeouf, which had an estimated budget of $185 million and grossed close to $800 million worldwide when it was initially released in May 2008. However, the movie was met with mixed reviews by both critics and fans.
