'Humans' season 2 spoilers news: Will synth revolution be imminent when upcoming installment returns?

Big things are looming for "Humans" season 2 when it returns on air sometime next year. Aside from two actors expected to join the cast, the upcoming installment could also see a synth revolution happening.
"Humans," the British-American adaptation of the Swedish sci-fi drama "Real Humans" was met with positive feedback when it debuted in 2015, especially as it explored a theme that is quite uncommon as far as TV shows go – the impact of anthropomorphic robots or "synths," as they are called in the series, on human life.
Viewers bore witness to how the Hawkins family's life was turned upside down upon the arrival of Anita (Gemma Chan), a synth whom Joe Hawkins (Tom Goodman-Hill) purchased to be a housekeeper.
However, co-producer Sam Vincent said that "Humans" season 2 would be veering away from the plot of its Swedish counterpart unlike the maiden season, which was almost the same as the version shown in Sweden.
"I think for Season 2, we'll be looking at the original more as a... treasure chest than a blueprint. They have so many wonderful and brilliant ideas, and even if their stories are going down a different track, we can just cherry-pick everything that works for us," he told TV Line back in August.
There would be a significant time jump from the season 1 finale to the season 2 premiere, and according to Vincent, the synths have now "moved into new areas of our personal lives... You're not coming back to a status-quo society."
It would be recalled that towards the end of season 1, Niska (Emily Berrington) escaped with the consciousness code in her possession. That is the code needed to produce more synths with the same capacities as Niska and Anita. Apparently, Niska remains at large, and the upcoming season could see her synth family integrating themselves into the human society as they search for her.
New cast members are also expected to join the series such as Carrie-Ann Moss ("The Matrix"), Sam Palladio ("Nashville"), Marshall Allman ("True Blood"), Sonya Cassidy ("The Paradise"), and Letitia Wright ("Cucumber Banana").
Moss will play the role of Dr. Athena Morrow, an artificial intelligence expert who might get a hold of Niska and use the code to create a new kind of machine consciousness for selfish reasons. Should that happen, a possible synth revolution could be in the offing.
"Humans" season 2 will have eight episodes and is set to premiere in the United Kingdom later this year and early 2017 in the United States.
