'Humans' season 2 spoilers, news, updates: Co-creator teases two important characters this season, Mia enters new relationship with a human

AMC's acclaimed sci-fi drama "Humans" returns next year, and new details on the show's anticipated second season were recently revealed.
Speaking at a recent screening for season 2, co-creator Sam Vincent hinted that two characters will have bigger roles to play as the story continues. The British screenwriter noted that Dr Athena Morrow (Carrie-Anne Moss) and Silicon Valley genius Milo Khoury (Marshall Allman) will both play integral roles this season.
"Well, how much can I say really? Carrie-Anne Moss is a doctor, a pre-eminent A.I. expert in the world and she is hired by Marshall's Milo, who is a young Silicon Valley billionaire to work on a highly secret project but actually, she has an agenda of her own," he told Express. "... they [Dr. Morrow and Milo] are at the heart of the central mystery and the plot that ties all these characters together and you can certainly look forward to those characters coming into contact with our regulars."
Aside from the original cast members, viewers will also meet a new recurring character played by "Nashville" actor Sam Palladio. He will be introduced in season 2 as Ed, an ordinary cafe owner struggling in his business. Mia (Gemma Chan), a Synth in the small coastal region trying to find herself, enters his life and forms a relationship with him.
During the show's New York Comic Con panel, Palladio explained the difficulties faced by his character and how Mia will be an important figure in his life. The actor hinted that since Ed hasn't had any previous interaction with Synths before he meets Mia, he treats her as a human as their relationship evolves. "He's a guy who's very much got the weight of the world on his shoulder," he said. "Trying to keep his family business afloat, caring for sick family member, [and he] needs help."
