YouTube

The HTC One M8 for Windows will be coming to T-Mobile today after previously being released on AT&T and Verizon. As the phone rolls out to more carriers in the U.S., comparison is being made to the smaller HTC One M7 which was released last year.

Aside from being smaller than the HTC One M8, the HTC One M7 is also marginally thicker. As for the metal used, both phones have aluminum casings. Gizmag notes the newer phone feels smoother.

A big difference between the phones, however, is in display size as the HTC One M7 has a smaller 4. 7-inch display compared to HTC One M8 which has a 5-inch display. Since both phones have 1080p density, it means the bigger One M8 had lower pixel density than the HTC One M7. However, Gizmag notes that difference cannot be spotted by the naked eye.

The HTC One M8 will come with a micro SD card slot, something which the HTC One M7 does not have since it has a smaller on-board memory of 16 GB.

A major advantage in the One M8 is its motion launch. Using this, a user can skip straight from the sleep screen of the phone to other areas just by tapping the screen.

As for specs, the One M8 features a Snapdragon 801 quad core 2.3 GHz processor while the One M7 has a Snapdragon 600 quad core 1.7 GHz processor. As for RAM both have the same 2 GB version.

When comparing the camera between the two phones, there is a striking difference as the One M8 has a second camera that captures depth information when a photo is taken. This allows people to refocus shots after they finish taking them.

Finally coming to price, T-Mobile is offering the One M8 coupled with a contract at $24.40 per month and a payment period of 24 months. Kpopstarz notes that the One M8 is priced at $736 if bought without a contract while the One M7 costs about $499.
