The HTC Desire Eye and HTC One (M8) are smartphones produced by the same company, so there is very little difference to note in terms of internal specs.

But when it comes to quality of photos produced, there's a definite winner.

To discover the winner, a comparison needs to start at the basics, their design. The HTC One (M8) features a premium aluminum body with an appealing design while its sibling strangely has a plastic body with a dual toned design.

The HTC One (M8) has two speakers on its front panel while the HTC Desire Eye conspicuously lacks them.

Where the HTC Desire Eye wins is in terms of height as it measures 5.97 inches compared to the 5.76 inches of the HTC One (M8).

Comparing the displays on the two phones, the HTC Desire Eye has lower pixels per inch at 424 because it has a bigger 5.2-inch screen. The HTC One (M8) has 441 pixels per inch courtesy of its 5-inch screen.

As for internal memory, the HTC One (M8) actually outscores its rival as it comes in two versions 16 GB and 32 GB while the HTC Desire Eye only has a standard 16 GB version.

Both phones feature microSD slots which allow for expanding the external memory up to 128 GB.

When it comes to specs both are nearly identical as the HTC Desire Eye is a rehash of the HTC One (M8), so they feature similar Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chips coupled with Quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 processors.

The major difference however is the camera, with HTC trying to address some of the problems with the HTC One (M8) which has a 4-ultrapixel camera rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera.

Compared to this the HTC Desire Eye has a 13 megapixel camera in both front and back. Panorama and HDR photos can be taken with the rear camera which comes with a geo-tagging and facial recognition facility.
