Reports have it that "How to Get Away with Murder" season 3 may be revisiting the Hapstalls from last season. The murder case had been brought to a close then when the guilty party, Caleb Hapstall (Kendrick Sampson), had been proven to be Ursula's (Linda DeMetrick) and Grant's (Alam Brooks) killer at court. Caleb though had offed himself, his body found in a bathtub awash with blood.

Ursula and Grant were Caleb's filthy rich adoptive parents, and he and his sister Catherine were the main suspects in the case. Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) proved the case against him, but in the end, he escaped justice through committing suicide by slitting his wrists.

Pete Nowalk, the executive producer of "How to Get Away with Murder," shared his thoughts on Caleb and the Hapstalls with Entertainment Weekly way back post season 2 finale.

"With Caleb, I just believed that for his character, that would be something that he would do," Nowalk said.

As to whether Caleb's suicide is to be believed, "You have to question everything you don't see on the show. I personally, right now, think he killed himself ... I don't know whether we'll be revisiting the Hapstalls next year. It's possible," Nowalk said.

The EP said that while the show mostly delved into some characters' backstories in season 2, the upcoming installment would bring in the procedural drama of weekly cases as had been the wont. At the same time, the new season would also present the life stories of the other characters who have not been studied as yet, like Michaela (Aja Naomi King), Laurel (Karla Souza), and Connor (Jack Falahee).

With regard to Wallace Mahoney's (Adam Arkin) murderer, Charlie Weber admitted in an interview with Variety that the character he plays, Frank Delfino, is a likely candidate, although he does not really know if that is what season 3 would bring for him.

Nowalk also thinks that the theory of Delfino killing Mahoney would fit, since Delfino would do anything to get back to being in Keating's good graces. And killing Mahoney is one way to achieve that.

Anything is possible, Nowalk himself pointed out. He also made mention that the show goes out of its way to do the unexpected.

"How to Get Away with Murder" season 3 premieres Sept. 22.

In other related news, the series has received several Emmy 2016 nominations, including that of Viola Davis as Best Drama Actress.
