'House of Cards' season 5 spoilers: Will Claire take the presidential seat from Frank? Robin Wright demands raise from studio chiefs

Even prior to its season 4 premiere in March, "House of Cards" already received the official order for its renewal for another season which is speculated to witness Claire Underwood's (Robin Wright) eager ambition to become the U.S. president herself. Actress Wright also reportedly asked for equal pay as that of her "House of Cards" co-actor Kevin Spacey who portrays Frank Underwood.

Season 4 has seen Frank winning the U.S. presidential seat. Whether or not Tom Hammerschmidt (Boris McGiver), editor-in-chief of The Washington Herald, will sooner or later uncover the investigative information he holds about the Underwoods is also another part in the storyline that remains unresolved. The first lady's budding romance with Thomas Yates (Paul Sparks) is an affair that has yet to be ended early on or to be chosen to be carried on.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Frank may have granted his approval on his wife and Yates' affair but he will most probably not think twice about putting an end to Yates' life should he prove to be an obstacle to the success of his presidency, a distraction to the first lady, or a liability to them as the first couple.

Meanwhile, season 5 may also see romantic partners Leann Harvey (Neve Campbell) and Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly) abandon the Underwoods and strive hand-in-hand to gain their own share of power.

There is also the speculation running around that Claire will try to eliminate Frank from the picture, potentially placing her, in turn, in the highest political seat in the country. Should she fail at the attempt and Frank discovers that she's in charge of a failed plot against him, he will most likely scheme to get back at her if not entirely eliminate her.

In other news, according to Harper Bazaar, Wright had to fight to get paid with the same amount that Spacey gets, reportedly threatening to sue the heads of the studio should they be unable to deliver her demands. Wright, who is also an executive producer of the show, told the magazine that her character in "House of Cards" is equal to that of Spacey and was even more popular for quite a period of time. About this, she continued to share, "So I capitalized on it. I was like: 'You'd better pay me or I'm going public.'"

This time with new showrunners Frank Pugliese and Melissa James Gibson on board, "House of Cards" season 5 is speculated to launch on Netflix in 2017.
