'House of Cards' season 5 spoilers: Will Claire take Frank's position as the President?

Move over Frank Underwood, because it seems like Claire will have all the attention to her in the upcoming "House of Cards" season 5. If there would be one person in Frank's (Kevin Spacey) life who knows him better than anyone else does, it's his wife and vice president Claire Underwood (Robin Wright). The idea makes fans speculate that the first lady will be able to take her husband down next season, earning the title of the U.S. President.
Viewers know that the married couple's relationship was not a walk in the park, particularly in season 4. The strain in their relationship was so evident, to the point of Frank daydreaming of killing her in cold blood. The previous season also featured Claire as she became the Vice President, inching her way to the highest position in the country. Along with their marital problems and Frank's misdeeds, rumor has it that Claire will make a move to bring her husband down in any way she can. However, it might not involve killing him since Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly) will obviously be there for Frank like he always does. Kelly previously admitted to The Hollywood Reporter that his character will do anything for Frank's sake.
"I think Stamper would like to think he would have taken the gunman down before he had a chance to fire the bullet. That's Stamper," the actor mentioned on Frank's assassination attempt in the fourth season. "He would do anything for him as was proven with Rachel and what he did with the donor." Fans can remember that Rachel was a girl who Doug was interested in, but Frank ordered him to kill her. As of now, it remains unclear if the show will be canceled or renewed after season 5, since there are speculations the EP Beau Willimon's departure after season 4 really affected the series.
"House of Cards" season 5 airs March 2017 on Netflix. For fans who can't wait until next year and need their daily fix of the show, all the previous seasons can be streamed via Netflix.
