'House of Cards' season 5 spoilers: Production already in progress; Michael Kelly shares teasers on Doug Stamper's arc
Netflix's "House of Cards" is entering its fifth year, and new episodes of the riveting political thriller can't come soon enough. Season 4 left off with Frank Underwood's (Kevin Spacey) health deteriorating but there are speculations that he will finally execute his evil plans to stay in power next season. In an interview, actor Michael Kelly shared interesting teasers on the show's much-anticipated return.

Speaking with Deadline, Kelly confirmed that production is already underway. "I've only been on set three days so far. We've just started season five. We're on episode one and two–we shoot two at a time," he said. Kelly's Doug Stamper has been a part of the show's many plot turns. He first appeared in the series shrouded in mystery, but viewers were given a deeper look into his personality as Frank's henchman over the course of four seasons.
Kelly further explained that portraying the character of Doug is very interesting because everything is always internalized. When asked what he personally thinks makes Doug tick, the actor said: "Addiction. I mean, at his core, he is a guy who just battles massive addiction. He was addicted to Rachel. He was addicted to Frank. He's addicted to the job. Everything for him is 100 percent. You know, he doesn't half-ass anything."
On other related news, two young Danes recently paid tribute to "House of Cards" by producing their own version of the program's opening credits sequence. Instead of being set in the U.S., young producers Christian Heldbo Weinberg and Julius Varlid Bech made the clip as if the story took place in the Danish Parliament halls and the hidden corners of Copenhagen. "The video is a result of our love of the series," Weinberg said. "But it's just as much, if not more of, an homage to Copenhagen and the culture, architecture and atmosphere the city has to offer. And to show Copenhagen from some of its other sides."
"House of Cards" has already been renewed for a fifth season expected to debut in 2017, but Netflix has yet to announce a definitive premiere date.
