'House of Cards' season 5 release date, plot rumors: Claire to rob Frank's presidency, premiere first quarter of 2017?

As fans await the premiere of "House of Cards" season 5, several theories about the plot for the upcoming fifth season have been surfacing online.
Further details about the politically-charged drama's storyline are being kept under wraps, but it does not stop fans to speculate on how their favorite show will take shape once it resumes airing. Rumor has it that there will be interesting twists and turns for the season 5 plot, particularly in Claire's (Robin Wright) character. There are speculations that she will con her husband and Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey), taking his place as the president. The two Underwoods have been at each other's throats in previous seasons, and their rivalry is said to worsen in the future episodes.
Reports also claim that Frank could possibly step down from his position after the damage done by Tom Hammerschmidt's (Boris McGiver) article.
Apart from the big changes on-screen, there are also drastic changes behind the scenes. Executive producer Beau Willimon is confirmed to exit the show after season 4 which came off as a surprise, especially since most of the show's success is attributed to him. In line with his departure, Willimon released a press statement Variety, stating:
"I'm grateful to Netflix and MRC, my fellow executive producers, our two incandescent stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright, our talented writers, as well as the incredible cast and crew with whom I've had the privilege to work. After five years and four seasons, it's time for me to move on to new endeavors, but I'm supremely proud of what we've built together, wish the show much continued success, and leave it in the hands of a very capable team."
Netflix has yet to confirm an official premiere date for the show, but speculations suggest that it might return to the small screen sometime around the first quarter of 2017.
