The cast of Showtime's hit espionage drama "Homeland" will now be joined by "Prison Break" vet Robert Knepper for its upcoming sixth season.

Knepper recently landed a recurring role in the series as General Jamie McClendon, a representative from the Department of Defense who will enter the picture to brief the country's newly-elected president Elizabeth Keane (Elizabeth Marvel) and the rest of her team. Aside from his "Homeland" stint, Knepper will also be a part of Fox's reboot of "Prison Break" where he will return as T-Bag.

Meanwhile, Claire Danes and Rupert Friend were recently spotted filming scenes in New York. Danes was sporting a gray top and black pants while Friend wore baggy clothes and looked very different from his character Quinn's typical appearance. In an interview with Hollywood Life, showrunner Alex Gansa confirmed that Quinn is alive but did not mention anything about his current condition. After having a major stroke and facing many challenges in season 5, Quinn will be very different once the show returns. "Quinn this coming season will really represent a very profound and familiar casualty of the war on terror for our audience," Gansa explained. "What he endured last year is different from what he's going through this year [when it comes to Carrie]."

Not much is known about the plot for season 6 but if one thing is for sure, Carrie (Danes) will be moving to New York in an effort to make everything more convenient for her family. The show will also explore the crucial timeline between two of the most important political events in the country: the election and the inaugural ceremony. According to Gansa, it is an interesting time to highlight because people get to witness a "transfer and transition of power."

"Homeland" season 6 premieres Sunday, Jan. 15 at 9 p.m. ET on Showtime.
