Everyone who watches "Homeland" knows the extent of guilt that Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) has to deal with every day of her life. The guilt is too much that it has taken a toll on her, and it could affect her well into the upcoming season.

The director of the critically acclaimed television drama, Lesli Glatter, sat down for an interview with Huffington Post, and there, Glatter said she has no idea what's going to happen to Danes' character when "Homeland" returns for its sixth run. Apparently, there is still a long way to go before Carrie finally achieves the inner peace she has been longing for.

Nevertheless, Glatter said it's entirely up to Alex Gansa, "Homeland's" showrunner to determine what Carrie's fate would be. Considering Carrie is already struggling with her bipolar disorder, saying that achieving inner peace would be a challenge for her is an understatement.

According to Game n Guide, Carrie's missions from the past seasons would definitely affect the condition of her mind, and this would mainly be a part of season 6's arc.

Danes herself dished that Carrie would struggle with guilt, but her reliance on her medication would somehow make her "mentally capable." Carrie would not only be struggling with her personal adversities; she would also be dealing with the critical condition of Quinn (Rupert Friend), her on-again, off-again love interest in the series.

Quinn was last seen lying on a hospital bed after a near-brush with death. A touching letter was somehow involved during the last scenes of the fifth season finale, and it remains to be seen whether there will be romantic developments between the two when it comes back for its sixth run. Moreover, due to the severity of his injury, there's no guarantee that his character would be in tip top shape come season 6.

"Homeland" season 6 will come back on air in January 2017.
