Hillary Clinton Argues Defunding of Planned Parenthood is 'Big Government'

During the first democratic debate for the 2016 presidential election this week, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton argued that Republicans do support big government when it comes to abortion and the federal defunding of Planned Parenthood.
Clinton argued during Tuesday evening's debate, held in Las Vegas, Nevada, that while the Republican party often calls for smaller government in financial circumstances, it calls for the government to intervene on issues regarding Planned Parenthood.
Prominent Republican lawmakers have recently called on the federal government to defund Planned Parenthood after a series of undercover videos show executives with the abortion provider discussing the costs associated with the procurement of aborted fetal tissue.
"They don't mind having big government to interfere with a woman's right to choose and to try and take down Planned Parenthood. They're fine with big government when it comes to that. I'm sick of it," Clinton said at Tuesday evening debate, receiving applause for her comment.
"We should not be paralyzed by the Republicans and their constant refrain, 'big government this, big government that,' except for what they want to impose on the American people," she added. "I know we can afford it, because we're going to make the wealthy pay for it," Clinton added.
Some critics have argued that the funding of Planned Parenthood is an example of "big government" in the first place, while the defunding of the abortion provider would be a "small government" practice.
As Breitbart News reports, aside from Clinton' mention of Planned Parenthood in her response, the debate largely stayed away from the topics of Planned Parenthood and abortion.
