'Hawaii Five-0' season 7 spoilers news: EP teases 'unexpected' villain and Chin being the guardian of Gabriel's daughter, Catherine to come back?

The sixth season of hit police procedural series "Hawaii Five-0" came to a close with an action-packed and heart-pounding episode early this month, coupled with a major character's death which shocked everyone.
Along with the show's renewal for another season, fans are already wondering how the team will operate particularly after the death of the season's primary antagonist—Gabriel (Christopher Sean). In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Peter M. Lenkov shared details about certain story arcs which will be tackled once the show returns to the small screen next year.
Before Gabriel was pronounced dead at the hospital, he asked his brother-in-law Chin (Daniel Dae Kim) to look after his daughter Sara. Lenkov mentioned that Chin's possible fatherhood will certainly be a huge story arc that they will explore further next season. The EP did not confirm if Chin will finally propose to Abby (Julie Benz), but he expressed how he wanted the characters to be "happy." "We start the season, [and he's] living with her," said Lenkov. "It's going in that direction for sure. I want these people to be happy, because they've become my family, too. And the same way with Kono and Adam (Ian Anthony Dale) getting out of prison. I do want these people to be happy."
A police procedural series won't be complete without a menacing villain, and the EP confirmed that "somebody very unexpected" will be the next antagonist in the show. However, he did not give further details about the new face who will cause trouble in season 7. As for Michelle Borth's character Catherine, Lenkov hopes they can find a way to get her back on board. "I hope so," Lenkov stated. "Yeah, hope so. I'll be honest with you, if I knew it was going to be the last season this year, she would have definitely been in the show, but because I knew it wasn't, and it just felt wrong, now I have the luxury of another 25 stories at least, so I can do it in a different way."
The network has yet to announce an official release date for "Hawaii Five-0" season 7, but it will return sometime next year.
