More new episodes are up ahead as "Hawaii Five-0" will soon air its season 7 premiere, and viewers will see the team move forward after the unfortunate events in the season 6 finale.

Season 6 wrapped up with an action-packed episode after Steve (Alex O'Loughlin) got shot during a mission. He almost died after sustaining serious injuries, but thankfully, his best friend Danny (Scott Caan) was there to save the day. Danny proved how far he can go for his friend, donating half of his liver to save Steve.

Executive producer Peter M. Lenkov previously mentioned that the main theme for season 7 will be legacy. After surviving the shot that almost killed him, Steve will have a chance to evaluate his life and make plans for the future. "He just starts to reflect on everything, the choices that he's made and looks for a reason to continue doing what he's doing," the EP told Entertainment Weekly. "That's going to play a little bit of a theme next year. McGarrett may be being a little more aware of his mortality, and also his legacy of what am I going to leave behind?"

Meanwhile, fans expected Catherine (Michelle Borth) to return in the season 6 finale when Steve was fighting for his life. Lenkov admitted that he considered having her back in the episode, but later on decided to not push through with it. According to the EP, it will just feel like Kono's (Grace Park) wedding last year, and he wanted Catherine's return to be more different than that. In an interview with TV Guide, Lenkov hinted that Catherine might be coming back sooner than expected. "She's still a part of our show. ... The idea is to push that story line until next year," he said.

Tune in to CBS for the season 7 premiere of "Hawaii Five-0" which airs on Sept. 23, Friday at 10 p.m. EST.
