Harry Potter Spinoff: 3 'Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them' Films Announced

For fans of the Harry Potter series, there is more excitement and wizardry to come as Warner Bros has announced three spinoff films.
The first film in the "Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them" series was announced by Warner Bros in May of this year and is set for release in November 2016.
Aside from this, the studio announced that there will be two more films set for release in 2018 and 2020.
During a press conference, Warner Bros CEO Kevin Tsujihara pointed out that Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling "has a vision for this extension of the franchise, and she is writing the script for what she believes is at least a trilogy."
This statement could mean that more films could follow if the initial three turn out to be a success.
Also written by Rowling, the "Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them" series is based on the character of Newt Scamander. He is the author of the textbook that is often referred to in Harry Potter books and films and is thought to have spent his life searching for magical creatures.
In addition, Rowling is set to write the screenplay of the first film in the series.
There has been speculation that David Yates -- the director of four of eight Harry Potter movies, including the last two, "The Deathly Hallows, Part 1" and "The Deathly Hallows, Part 2" -- will be roped in to direct the first Harry Potter spinoff movie.
The Telegraph notes that Yates could bring back members of his Harry Potter team including David Heyman, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram.
Rowling's involvement in the film will no doubt keep fans interested in the upcoming trilogy. The author last week posted a tweet which was meant to be a riddle for fans. This set them speculating about what it could mean. Finally she revealed that the tweet was an anagram -- a word or phrase spelled by rearranging the letters of another word or phrase -- that dealt with Newt Scamander.
