'Half-Life 3' Release Date News: Did Developers Intentionally Leak Game Launch Date?

A leak of its new logo has sent "Half-Life" fans abuzz.
This came after its developer, Valve Corporation, unintentionally confirmed the "Half-Life 3" release date on Steam. "Steam was updated on Tuesday and it saw the addition of App 323900. The amazing part is the fact that App 33900 came out with Half-Life 3's logo," Kdramastars said, quoting Motoring Crunch.
"This has got the fans buzzing loudly as for the first time ever, a leak from Half-Life 3 actually came from Valve itself. Of course, Valve was notified of the buzz and has hence removed the app from the listing," Kdramastars added.
The source said that mishap will surely be talked about in the gaming community, especially among fans of the franchise who are eagerly awaiting the "Half-Life 3" release date announcements.
Valve co-founder Gabe Newell issued a statement regarding the alleged launch, denying that such a game is being developed.
The Valve executive hinted on the reasons why the third installment has not been given a green light yet. "When we started out we were a single-player video game company that could have been really successful just doing Half-Life sequel after Half-Life sequel. But we collectively said let's try to make multi-player games even though there's never been a commercial successful multi-player game," Newell said, according to Celebeat.
"Half-Life" is a science fiction first-person shooter video game developed by Valve Corporation that was first released by Sierra Studios for Windows PCs in 1998.
In Half-Life, players assume the role of Dr. Gordon Freeman, a theoretical physicist who must fight his way out of a secret underground research facility whose research and experiments into teleportation technology have gone disastrously wrong.
The game was also released for the PlayStation 2, Mac OS X and Linux ports in January 2013.
