Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 news and updates: James Gunn teases a scene, spills Star Lord's real father

The sequel, or "Volume 2," of 2014 blockbuster hit "Guardians of the Galaxy" will invade the theaters on May 5, 2017, and more revelations on the lives of the four Guardians will be featured in the next chapter of the Marvel film, particularly on Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord, played by Chris Pratt.
At the end of "GotG," it was revealed that Star-Lord is not a pure-blooded human and his "alien" genes made him withstand the destructive effects of the powerful Infinity stone. However, in the flashbacks of the young Peter Quill, his relationship with his deceased mother was only shown with little to no knowledge at all about his real father.
In an interview with Empire Online, director James Gunn gave answers to the mystery surrounding Star-Lord's paternity, along with other big questions existing in the movie.
"There have been a lot of documents passed around about who Peter Quill's father is between a select two or three of us," said Gunn.
"That's been part of the plan since the beginning, that's something I had to work out before we shot the screenplay. We wanted to make sure Yondu's place in everything made sense and it does, so it's all very specific stuff."
Those who are also fans of the original comic series of "Guardians of the Galaxy" would be surprised, as the GotG director also revealed that Star-Lord's father in the comics will not be this movie version of Quill's real dad.
"It's definitely not the character who it is in the comics, I'll say that much," Gunn briefly stated.
When asked whether Thanos will be seen in GotG Vol. 2, Gunn responded that the "Infinity Wars" villain is not likely to make an appearance, saying that he is "not the most important thing in 'Guardians 2.'"
Gunn recently teased the fans with a thumbnail art posted in his Facebook page, saying that it is going to be a real scene in the upcoming sequel.
"Many of you asked to see these drawings so I thought I'd start posting thumbnails of whatever it was we shot that day on #GotGVol2. I'm not going to explain what the shot is - as I said, they're messy. But maybe you can match the thumbnail to the shot when the movie is released," Gunn stated via Facebook Mentions.
Aside from Pratt's Star-Lord, the "Guardians" sequel also features Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax; Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot and Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket.
