'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' cast update: 3 new characters revealed

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" might be set to premiere a year away, but a reliable insider revealed three of the main characters.
In line with the announcement made by Marvel Studios during the start of principal photography, the main cast line-up became known to the public. On the other hand, the roles they will play remained a mystery for quite a while, until a reliable source working closely to the film's production disclosed the details to Comicbookmovie. Newcomers taking part in the film include Kurt Russell, Elizabeth Debicki, Tommy Flanagan, and Chris Sullivan.
According to the media outlet, Debicki will play the role of Ayesha, who shares a name with a prominent character in Marvel Comics. She shares her origin with Adam Warlock since they are both created on earth by the same group of scientists. Originally known as Paragon, she became a superhuman being who was able to escape her creators and ended up in outer-space. Her full backstory is too massive, but it is still not confirmed if indeed that is the character Debicki will play or it was just a big coincidence.
Flanagan is Tulk, who shares a name with an alien who appeared in "Annihilation: Ronan Vol 1 1-2." Though it was reported that Flanagan will be a part of Yondu's motley Ravagers, the character might be based on the alien in the comics. Sullivan will take on the role of Taserface, who seems to be the only original name among the three.
No concrete storyline has been released yet, but the synopsis provided on the film's IMDB page reads: "Set to the backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' continues the team's adventures as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill's true parentage." The latest installment to the "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie franchise is scheduled to be released on May 5, 2017.
