'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' Rumors, Cast News: More Characters Will Join The Team

New characters will join Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, Groot, and Rocket Racoon in the sequel of "Guardians of the Galaxy."
Director James Gunn made the disclosure during an interview with Variety, adding that "Guardians of the Galaxy" is set for release in 2017.
"Guardians of the Galaxy" has become this year's biggest box-office success story, having earned over $700 million worldwide. The movie drew millions of theater goers despite having no big-name stars on board.
However, Director Gunn is not resting on his laurels. He has begun working on the "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" sequel. Variety says the director was "so excited about beginning the second film because he saw the franchise as a universe, not just as one story."
During the Variety interview, Gunn joked that all the characters in the first film would meet their death in the first 10 minutes of the sequel in "really horribly brutal fashion."
Gunn ruled out any "Star Wars" crossover. He said if there was going to be a crossover, it would have to include time travel as the events in "Star Wars" took place several thousands of years ago.
The DVD of the first "Guardians of the Galaxy" will be hitting stores on Dec. 9. Gunn said the DVD release will include deleted scenes and director's commentary. Gunn also pointed out to Variety that instead of changing or adding elements to the story, the deleted scenes will add more background to characters and help flesh them out .
