'Grey's Anatomy' sesaon 13 air date, spoilers news: Arizona to have new love interest
Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw) will finally have a love interest in the forthcoming season of ABC's medical drama TV series "Grey's Anatomy."
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Shonda Rhimes revealed that they intended to pair up Arizona with someone in the previous season but it somehow didn't end up in the final.
The executive producer also shared that Capshaw took a bit of time off because she was pregnant last year. But when she returns to the show, fans will definitely be seeing Arizona with a new romantic partner. In the previous season, Arizona was seen randomly dating various women after she divorced Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez).
"I'm very excited to introduce a love interest for her, and to get to tell a story with her that lets her be who she is, and to see who she is post the relationships that she's had," Rhimes told EW.
Although Rhimes has clearly expressed her excitement for the matter, the exec remained quiet about the identity of Arizona's potential lover. Moreover, Rhimes told the news outlet that she wants audiences to be rooting for the upcoming couple. She wants it to be as real and as "organic" as possible.
As part of Callie's endeavor to move on, she will be moving to New York. The former couple got into a custody battle over their child but Rhimes confirmed that the couple will work something out so that Arizona can still see her daughter. "So it's not this sense of loss. In our world, Callie still exists," Rhimes revealed.
Sources said that Ramirez was just on a "welcome break" in the previous season and can possibly return for the next one. Many believed that the actress has yet to bid a permanent goodbye to the show.
"Grey's Anatomy" will be back on ABC on Thursday, Sept. 22, at 8 p.m. EDT.
