'Grey's Anatomy' season 13 spoilers news: Sara Ramirez exits the show, more drama for Meredith-Riggs-Maggie love triangle

Long-running medical drama "Grey's Anatomy" may have ended its 12th season just recently, but it is never too early to talk about season 13. After all, the show left off with a lot of loose ends making fans curious as to how the next season will play out.
One huge change in the show will surely be Sara Ramirez's departure. The actress played the role of Dr. Callie Torres for 10 years, and season 12 turned out to be her last appearance in the series. "I'm deeply grateful to have spent the last 10 years with my family at Grey's Anatomy and ABC, but for now, I'm taking some welcome time off. Shonda's been so incredible to work for, and we will definitely continue our conversations! I send my love to Ellen [Pompeo, Grey's star], the rest of the cast and crew, and I look forward to always being a part of the Shondaland family!" reads the press statement Ramirez released.
As for the upcoming season's plot, there is a possibility that the love triangle involving Meredith Grey, Dr. Nathan Riggs and Maggie will be explored. Actress Ellen Pompeo expressed her excitement in being a part of the romantic drama with the two other characters. "I am excited to play it," she told Entertainment Weekly. "He's safe for Meredith because nobody likes him and she knew she couldn't be in a relationship with him. That triangle will be fun. I just hope it's written differently. I would assume that it's going to be written differently. I just don't want to play the same thing that I played in the last love triangle. 10 years have passed, so hopefully Meredith responds to this differently than she did 10 years ago."
As of this writing, the network has yet to announce an official release date for "Grey's Anatomy" season 13, but it will likely premiere sometime in the Fall.
