There is no official confirmation given by game developer company Rockstar amid rumors that a follow-up installment to "Grand Theft Auto 6" is currently in the works. However, there is nothing to stop the fans from speculating about the anticipated latest addition to the highly popular video game series that explores the world of gangsters and criminal activities. There are rumors noting the improved gaming experience to be featured in "GTA 6" that is expected to blend well with today's latest generation of consoles.

"Grand Theft Auto 5" was first released in PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles in September 2013, followed by the release in newer PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles in November 2014. The PC Windows version of the game was released later in April 2015. In "Grand Theft Auto 6," rumor has it that the technology being used to develop the game will be advanced enough to require better graphics and hardware performance from the consoles. With this, the rumored next generation consoles of Playstation and Xbox called the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Two are going to be released just in time with GTA 6's official launching. This is expected to happen sometime between 2018 and 2020, according to a report from Neurogadget.

From the same report, it was also noted that gamers have always wanted to explore bigger and fresh locations in the upcoming open world shooter games. Rockstar is rumored to heed the request of the game fanatics as the company is rumored to consider other places outside the U.S. as the new setting for "Grand Theft Auto." The initial report has Tokyo City as the possible setting for "GTA 6," although the idea was dropped later on with either Colombia or Nevada now expected to be the center of action in the upcoming video game.

GTA players are also expecting new and wider variety of characters to choose from in "GTA 6." The previous games featured three male personalities that include Michael, Trevor and Franklin. To address the call for character variety, it is rumored that "GTA 6" will feature a female character that will be voiced by Hollywood actress Eva Mendes. However, it was earlier stated by Rockstar that adding a female personality in the game is unlikely.

Another major change rumored in "GTA 6" will be seen in the buildings, as fans are also looking for in-game structures that are more utilized. As noted by Designntrend, the beautiful buildings featured in "Grand Theft Auto 5" are underutilized probably due to limited horsepower offered by PS3 and Xbox 360, where the game was initially launched. As "Grand Theft Auto 6" is rumored to be released in the newest generation of consoles, it can be expected that the graphics restrictions will be fixed, leading to better utilization of buildings.
