'Grand Theft Auto 6' release date news and updates: Is 'GTA 6' in the works?; Rockstar still focusing on 'GTA 5'

British video game developer Rockstar Games hasn't revealed the details of the sixth installment for the "Grand Theft Auto" franchise. The company might want their avid gamers to focus on "GTA 5," which was released in 2013.
Fans expected the creators to make an announcement about the rumored sequel at the annual video game conference, Electronic Entertainment Expo, which was held in June. However, the company was still busy enumerating the updates for "GTA 5."
There have been various reports about the setting for "GTA 6." The most recent speculations suggested that the new franchise might be making its way to the streets of Manila, Philippines. A source reported that the game can have two main characters, who will be rivals throughout the game. One will be a vigilante protagonist, while the other a member of a syndicate.
The recent endeavors of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte against the pervading drug problem in the country have made Manila a viable setting for the upcoming "GTA" installment, reports said.
Fans from all around the world have expressed their excitement about the possibility of Rockstar Games exploring maps outside the borders of the United States. Aside from Manila, other popular cities that have made it to the list of possible settings are London, Moscow and Rio de Janeiro.
Furthermore, reports said the installment will have a vintage title, particularly a 1960s London setting. Rockstar has previously explored vintage London themes in its 1999 releases: "GTA: London 1969" and "GTA: London 1961." Since these were among the pioneers of the franchise, these are very different from the popular "GTA" video games today.
However, because the creators have done it before, they might once again add vintage titles to the "GTA" series.
There have been no official announcements from Rockstar Games or confirmation that the game is in the works but the rumor mill has churned speculations hinting at either a 2018 or 2020 release.
