'Grand Theft Auto 6' news, rumors: Tokyo dropped as Nevada, Colombia reportedly considered as new locations

Initial reports about Rockstar's much-anticipated next installment to the popular "Grand Theft Auto" game series revealed that the game development company may be considering places outside the U.S. to be the setting of the open world action-adventure video game's next chapter. It was previously though that Tokyo, Japan will be the place where all the action of GTA 6 will take place. However, latest rumors are now pointing to Colombia and Nevada as the new places of interest as the initial plan of a Tokyo setting for the upcoming "Grand Theft Auto" video game has already been scrapped.
A report from Tech Radar website revealed that Rockstar and the team appointed to develop GTA 6 has actually visited Tokyo to gather information and insights for the supposed "GTA: Tokyo" plans. The company has also reportedly filed a petition to trademark the label "GTA: Tokyo" which implies that Rockstar was on its way to create a Tokyo-based GTA video game. However, all the plans and preparations to make "GTA 6: Tokyo" happen were ultimately dropped and according to Tech Radar's report, it was because "Grand Theft Auto" is "deep-rooted in the American Culture." Also, it was reported that even though the production team really wanted to go with "GTA: Tokyo," the road system was seen to be a big challenge for them that led to stopping of development.
Based on the report, it can be seen that Rockstar is actually making an effort in preparing for their upcoming games that their team has to go to places where they can imagine the game's setting, capture images of the area, know more about the culture and the locals of the area and experience the feeling of being in the locality firsthand.
After venturing the Asian city and considering all factors in bringing the game outside America, Rockstar has now been reported checking out Nevada and Colombia for the possibility of having the action of "Grand Theft Auto" centered in those areas.
It was reported that Rockstar had already filed trademarks for the labels "Grand Theft Auto: Sin City," which translates to Nevada, and "Grand Theft Auto: Bogota," which is the capital city of Colombia. It is also said that the company had already filed the trademarks as early as 2003. It was thought that the trademarks are meant for a new GTA video game but concrete details regarding the filing of trademarks remain scarce until now.
