Gotham" Season 1 Episode 5 titled "Viper" airs tonight at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox and here's the official synopsis for this episode:
"Gordon and Bullock search for the source of a new street drug that causes euphoria then death. Meanwhile, Oswald Cobblepot works his way deeper into Maroni's (guest-star David Zayas) inner circle and Fish Mooney continues her plot against Falcone.
A report from Hypable also reveals that young Bruce Wayne and Alfred's lives will be placed in jeopardy. Selina Kyle will also make a return.
The Penguin will be seen going through a test of loyalty after mob boss Maroni "learns something is up," according to the report.
Detective James Gordon (played by Ben McKenzie) will have to team up with his corrupt partner Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) to find out the source of the drugs.
International Business Times reports that while Gordon focuses on finding the drug dealers, Mooney is happy that Falcone's power has been diminished by Maroni. She will continue her alliance with Liza and pursue her plot against Falcone.
The premiere episode in the first season of "Gotham" debuted to great numbers and got the critics and viewers raving about the show. Since then, the series was picked up for a full 22 episode run by Fox.
As for the spoilers they are coming in thick and fast, and major hints were dropped at the New York Comic Con 2014. Among these is the rise of Oswald Cobblepot (aka the Penguin, played by Robin Lord Taylor). His rivalry with "Fish" Mooney would result in her eventual death or destruction. Right now, however, Cobblepot is just trying to stay alive and out of Mooney's long reach, while he collaborates with Maroni.
Also Danny Cannon, one of the producers on the show, announced that Harvey Dent (aka Two Face) would make an appearance in Episode 9.
Another spoiler is that Harley Quinn will ultimately become the right hand of the Joker who will make his appearance this season.
Coming to the issue of Alfred, the trusted butler who was left in charge of a young Bruce Wayne by his parents, the season will see him teaching Bruce how to fight. This version of the story around Batman is not going to see Alfred as an old but shrewd butler but instead as someone who is quite capable of kicking ass.
