'Gotham' season 3 spoilers, plot news: Vicki Vale on board, Robin Lord Taylor hints 'unhinged' Penguin to bring in more trouble
Another iconic character from the Batman franchise will join the cast of "Gotham" once the show returns for its third season later this year: Vicki Vale.
Vicki Vale has been a part of the "Batman" stories for a long time since the '40s, but she is not a character who is consistently present in the plot. As noted by Cinemablend, she usually drops in to suspect about Bruce Wayne's secret life as Batman. Over the years, the character has appeared in various adaptations including video games and animation. In the 1989 "Batman" directed by Tim Burton, she was portrayed by Kim Basinger. The upcoming third season of "Gotham" will feature Vicki Vale as a young journalist who will do anything for her ambition.
Meanwhile, one of the reasons why the show appeals to viewers is because of the interesting villains. One of the most notorious bad guys in the Batman universe is The Penguin, whose real name is Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot. He went through a lot of difficulties in season 2, particularly after his mother died. How will his past issues affect him in season 3?
In "Gotham," the character is played by actor Robin Lord Taylor who recently caught up with Comic Mix to give some details about how Oswald will evolve. "I think going into season 3, it's all guns blazing. And also, he's learned, having been at the top for the brief period. He learned now how much more difficult it is and he severely overestimated his own abilities, and he didn't take into account the fact that when you're the 'King of Gotham' you have a giant, giant target on your back in a way that you never did before. I think that's the most valuable lesson that he learned this season," Taylor explained.
The actor also teased that Penguin might bring more trouble in the city, saying, "Having lost all the love in his life, going forward, he's just going to be completely unhinged – which I'm really excited about!"
"Gotham" season 3 is expected to premiere sometime in the Fall on Fox.
