"The Walking Dead" star Benedict Samuel will be one of the latest additions in "Gotham" as The Mad Hatter. Breathing new life into one of Batman's infamous foes, Samuel recently spoke about his interpretation of the iconic villain in the show's upcoming third season.

In an interview with Zap2it, Samuel explained that his character will go to Gotham City do to some sort of rescue mission. He is searching for his younger sister Alice, but he will use darker means to execute his plans. Since he is hell-bent on finding Alice, he is willing to do everything it takes. Portraying the character is certainly a challenge, but Samuel shared a great advice he learned during his acting school days.

"A helpful thing for me has always been—this is from a great acting teacher Declan Donnellan—is this beautiful way of expressing how and why people do things that other people may not do," he said. "It's a simple sentence that says, 'I understand you, you don't understand me.' I feel the Mad Hatter certainly operates in that way."

Meanwhile, part of the other interesting twists this coming season is the introduction of Bruce Wayne's (David Mazouz) doppelganger. Details about the new character are still under wraps but according to Mazouz, the only thing Bruce and his doppelganger have in common is their physical appearance.

"In terms of fun, definitely the doppelganger has been more fun to play ... I don't want to give too much away, but this character is nothing like Bruce Wayne. The only similarity that they have is that they look shockingly like David Mazouz," he told Comicbook.com. "Everything else about them, they think differently, they talk differently, they walk differently, they communicate differently. He's pretty weird, the other guy." Cartermatt speculates that Bruce and his doppelganger will come face-to-face in season 3 which will be one of the highlights of the season.

The third season of "Gotham" premieres Monday, Sept. 19 at 8 p.m.EST on Fox.
