'Gotham' season 3 spoilers, air date: Penguin makes alliances

Oswald Cobblepot aka Penguin who is portrayed by Robin Lord Taylor in FOX's crime TV series "Gotham" will have a rather difficult season. The character will reportedly make stronger alliances in season 3 to make up for his loss in the previous season.
His former boss Fish Mooney, who is portrayed by Jada Pinkett Smith, will once again claim the city for herself. Once Penguin makes the necessary alliances, he will face his former superior in the crime world.
In an interview with TV Insider, executive producer John Stephens revealed that Penguin and Ed Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) will "become a real duo for the first half of the season." Penguin will be using Nygma's knowledge to regain control over Gotham City. However, Nygma will also be needing assistance from Penguin.
"If and when Ed Nygma gets out of Arkham Asylum, the only person he can really reach out to is Penguin," Smith said.
Furthermore, Butch Gillian, who will be portrayed by Drew Powell, will be joining Penguin's team. Powell's character will serve as Penguin's henchman.
"The Nygma/Butch dynamic is pretty much the opposite of the Penguin/Butch dynamic." Powell told the news outlet. "There's this weird sympatico between Penguin and Butch, but Butch and Nygma are chalk and cheese. They are oil and water. These two will neversee eye-to-eye. So there's this weird triangle between Penguin, Nygma, and Butch that starts near the beginning of the season, works through the first part, and I think will carry through the season of this weird dynamic," he added.
Though the team is expected to be a fierce bunch, Mooney will return as an even tougher adversary. Staying in Indian Hill gave her the ability to exert control over people to make them do her bidding. She will definitely be a tough adversary and she won't go down without a fight.
"Gotham" airs on FOX every Monday at 8 p.m. EDT.
