'Gotham' season 3 news, spoilers: New romances teased; Fish Mooney has 'huge impact' on Penguin

The upcoming "Gotham" season 3 will reportedly find new romantic relationships blossoming between old and new characters.
In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, David Mazouz, who plays the teenage Bruce Wayne in the series, spoke about what's in store for his character and for Selina "Cat" Kyle, played by Camren Bicondova. According to the actor, the upcoming season will find Bruce growing up and becoming a man. It will also have him discovering confidence and romance — things that come with manhood.
Speaking about Selina, Mazouz said that although Bruce doesn't need her anymore to show him around Gotham, he will still want to be friends with her, which begs the question why.
"The answer is that they have this connection, and this connection will only grow bigger," the actor said. "That connection will lead Bruce to be determined to take things to the next level," Mazouz added.
Apart from the growing romance between Selina and Bruce, another relationship will emerge in "Gotham" season 3 — one between Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Valerie Vale, to be played by "Gotham" newbie Jamie Chung.
Gordon's new relationship will come on the heels of the dissolution of his romance with Dr. Leslie Thompkins, played by McKenzie's real-life partner Morena Baccarin, in the previous season.
"There's a new love interest for me in Valerie Vale — I think I can say that that's a love interest," McKenzie said in an interview with Comic Book Resources. "It's professional, and then not. And [Lee] has a new man as well. So we get to have fun with the kind of love triangle aspect," he continued.
Apart from these new couples, one of the most highly anticipated aspects of "Gotham" season 3 is the return of the enigmatic character Fish Mooney, played by Jada Pinkett Smith.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, "Gotham" executive producer Ken Woodruff teased the character's return, saying, "She definitely has a huge impact on Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor)."
According to the "Gotham" boss, her time in Indian Hill made Fish more powerful than ever before. "She's going to stir things up and cause some real problems for everyone involved," he added.
"Gotham" season 3 debuts Monday, Sept. 19, at 8 p.m. EDT on FOX.
