Talk of a new Nexus 7 has died down a bit after it wasn't unveiled during Google's Pixel event in October. But things are about to get interesting again. The Bitbag has reported that the Nexus 7 may not come out this year because Huawei allegedly backed out of the project because of a disagreement with Microsoft. Is this the same problem it had with the Pixel phones?

Back in October, Android Police said that Huawei was supposed to work on Google's Pixel smartphones before HTC got the contract, however, negotiations took a turn for the worst when Google refused to allow Huawei to put its logo on the smartphones. Last month, GSMArena.com reported that Huawei's Colin Giles had just about confirmed it is true.

The Bitbag report also says Google has decided to ask HTC to work on the Nexus 7. A number of sources have also reported that development may have been delayed because of this issue, so the tablet probably won't be coming out anytime soon. It should be noted, though, that this rumor hasn't been verified unlike the one with the Pixel smartphones. It's quite possible that people have been confusing the Nexus 7 tablet with the Pixel smartphones.

So, is the tablet going to be called the Pixel 7 now that Google has rebranded its line of Nexus products? Right now, nobody knows for sure. Some even think it may be called "Pixel Pro." Well, there's another tablet in the market using the "Pro" moniker already (Surface Pro).

Sources say the tablet will come with a 7-inch quad high-definition (HD) display, a Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of random-access memory (RAM), an Adreno 530 graphics processing unit (GPU), a 13-megapixel (MP) rear camera and 64GB of internal storage space that can be expanded up to 2TB with a microSD card. A few months ago, 9to5Google also reported that the tablet may be one of the first devices to run on Google's hybrid operating system (OS) — the Andromeda.

Meanwhile, readers are advised to take everything with a grain of salt since Google has yet to confirm that a new Nexus 7 is under development.
